Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website!

Dear Live Oak Parents and Community Members,

Thank you for your overwhelming support of my 2012 campaign for Live Oak School Board. Thanks to you, I was elected, and it has been a tremendously rewarding experience to serve as a board member for the past four years (and as the board president for the past three).

I was elected to the Live Oak School Board four years ago at a critical time for our school district. After years of state budget cuts, our schools were in need of effective leadership and strong advocacy. Working with the superintendent and my fellow board members, we have achieved a great deal in the past four years. Through collaborative partnerships with parents, teachers, support staff, district administrators, local nonprofits, and community leaders, our schools are preparing our students for success in high school, college, career and life.

District Accomplishments since 2012:

  • Increased district funding (state and federal) by more than 30% (from approximately $7,500/year ADA to approximately $10,000/year ADA)
  • Created a comprehensive educational plan (LCAP) leading to improved student achievement and increased focus on critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Opened an exceptional new youth center--the Live Oak Boys & Girls Club
  • Established the Live Oak Education Foundation to promote enrichment opportunities for our kids
  • Designed student-led parent conferences and family learning nights to facilitate parent-teacher interaction
  • Conducted a successful parcel tax renewal campaign that guarantees local funding for art, music and hands-on science education through 2029
  • Restored full-time school counselors to advise district students and partnered with the East Cliff Family Health Center to provide access to family counseling when needed

My top priorities when I was elected in 2012 were to restore funding for our schools, to build the Boys & Girls Club, and to establish the Live Oak Education Foundation. I have served as the Board President for three of my four years in office, and we have accomplished all three of those priorities. As a parent, I am personally invested in our public schools and committed to making them the best that they can be. I am seeking re-election because I believe there is still so much more that we can achieve together.

I respectfully ask for your vote.
